Shinsegae smart prepaid card

The Shinsegae smart prepaid card is a payment tool that can be used by Shinsegae Duty Free members at offline stores.

Types of Shinsegae smart prepaid cards

Shinsegae smart prepaid card is offered in one of two formats: a complimentary gift or a purchase-based gift
                                                                                                                       smart prepaid card. (see explanation below)
  • Complimentary gift smart prepaid card :provided free of charge, usually through a Shinsegae Duty Free event, with only one permitted to be used per receipt above a certain purchase amount.
  • Purchase-based gift smart prepaid card :provided for participation in a purchase giveaway event, with multiple Shinsegae smart prepaid cards permitted to be used per receipt regardless of the purchase amount.

Shinsegae smart prepaid card: User Guidelines

  • 1. Checking of balance

    • Offline : can be verified at an offline store or Customer Service Desk or by calling the Integrated Call Center.

  • 2. Payment

    • Participation in an event/promotion at an offline store.

  • 3. Validity period

    • Complimentary gift smart prepaid card : varies depending on the event.
    • Purchase-based gift smart prepaid card : one year from the date of issuance.

  • 4. Cancellation and expiration

    • Cancellation
      - If a member cancels or returns a purchased duty free product, the Shinsegae smart prepaid card issued based
         on said purchase will be canceled/retrieved.
      - If the Shinsegae smart prepaid card was already used and thus cannot be retrieved, the customer must return to
        Shinsegae Duty Free the corresponding amount in cash or the form of Purchase-based gift smart prepaid card.
        (Complimentary gift smart prepaid card must return to the corresponding amount in cash)
    • Expiration
      - Shinsegae smart prepaid card is valid for each validity period from the time it is offered.
        If the card is not used during the validity period, it will automatically expire at the end of the validity period.

Attention

  • Shinsegae prepaid card offers will be replaced with Shinsegae smart prepaid card after April 10th 2020.
  • Shinsegae smart prepaid card is exclusively for Shinsegae Duty Free members and cannot be ceded to or used by a non-member.
  • Shinsegae smart prepaid card is offered in one of two formats. (Complimentary gift or Purchase-based gift smart prepaid card )
    - Complimentary gift smart prepaid card : two or more smart prepaid cards of this type cannot be used simultaneously.
    - Purchase-based gift smart prepaid card : can be used simultaneously with a Complimentary gift and/or Purchase-based gifts smart prepaid card.
  • The Shinsegae smart prepaid card can be used only by the member himself/herself and may not be ceded to a third party or exchanged for cash.
  • The Shinsegae smart prepaid card is provided free of charge (as a not-for-sale item). After use, any remaining balance is not refunded. Shinsegae smart prepaid card validity periods cannot be changed or extended. Shinsegae points are not awarded for payments made with a Shinsegae smart prepaid card.
  • The terms of use and validity period for a Shinsegae smart prepaid card vary depending on the card type. If a card is not used during its validity period,
    it will be automatically expired at the end of the validity period.
  • Shinsegae smart prepaid cards that have expired cannot be used regardless of the remaining balance.
  • A Shinsegae smart prepaid card used to make a purchase that was cancelled after the card's expiry date will not be refunded or re-issued. If the card is valid as of the cancellation date, the portion of the price of the purchased item(s) paid using the card will be refunded to the card.
  • Shinsegae smart prepaid cards cannot be used for purchases of tobacco or products of certain brands/products. Purchases of some brands are excluded from the threshold purchase amount necessary to participate in other purchase-based events.
  • Purchase amounts paid using a Complimentary gift smart prepaid card are excluded from the threshold purchase amount necessary to participate
    in other purchase-based events.
  • Some Shinsegae prepaid card offers may be effective after April 10th 2020.
